Policy 2 - Anti-Virus Software Policy
1.0 Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance designed to limit virus-related issues for Âé¶¹Éç. Any questions or comments about this policy should be directed to Information Systems.
2.0 Scope
This policy applies to all machines connected to the Âé¶¹Éç networks.
3.0 Policy
Always run Information Systems approved anti-virus/anti-spyware software. This should also be kept updated with the latest virus definitions. All machines should also follow the Anti-Virus Standards which further state Âé¶¹Éç's stance on anti-virus software and proper use.
4.0 Enforcement
Anyone found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action according to personnel policies and procedures. Students may be referred to Student Affairs for discipline. A violation of this policy by a temporary worker, contractor or vendor may result in action up to and including termination of their contract or assignment with Âé¶¹Éç.
5.0 Definitions
Âé¶¹Éç Network
Being connected to a Âé¶¹Éç network includes the following:
- If you have a network capable device (ex. laptop) plugged into a Âé¶¹Éç owned building, then you are connected to the MSU LAN (local area network).
- If you have a wireless capable device (ex. laptop, iPhone) and connect to MSUWireless or MSUSecure, then you are connected to the MSU WLAN (wireless local area network).
- If you connect from a computer through the Âé¶¹Éç VPN (virtual private network), you are then connected to the MSU LAN (local area network).
