Our English Education program is dedicated to training excellent English language arts teachers for the secondary school classroom. Working with the College of Education, we prepare future teachers in literature, writing, linguistics, and pedagogy so they can build their teaching upon a strong foundation of content knowledge. This emphasis is particularly important because the job market demands teachers who possess both teaching skills and well-developed content knowledge. By teaching several methods courses within our department, we help our students directly transfer their skills as English majors to secondary teaching.
